Pursuance Background
- Preoccupy the Pan-East Sea Economic Belt that is newly emerging
- The economic scope of the Pan-East Sea belt is expected to grow from 5.8 trillion dollars in 2007 to 12.2 trillion dollars in 2020
- Pursue GTI of Korea, China, Russia and Mongolia
- Respond to Pan-East Sea policies of surrounding nations such as China’s Changchun, Jilin, Tumen Project, Russia’s Far East Development Strategy 2025 and Japan’s Economic Belt and Future Pioneering Strategy
- Gangwon-do East coast development strategy that meets metropolitan economic belt policies
- Pursue together with the East coast general development, metropolitan economic belt development 5 year plan, and other national plans
- The continental parts of Gangwon-do can develop into pan-Seoul regions and the East Sea region needs policies focusing on overseas development
- Construct epochal base for attracting domestic and foreign investments
- Recruit more foreign investments by improving corporate management environment and residential conditions for foreigners in the Gangwon-do East coast region
- Overcome limitations for attracting investments through small-scale dispersed industrial complexes, foreign investment regions, and free trade zones
- Optimal place to foster light-weight materials and ferroalloy into national new growth engines
- The government is pursuing fostering of rare metal (Mg, Ti, Zr, Li, etc) policies and WPM as national new growth engines
- The East Sea belt can attract technologies, personnel and companies for advancement and adding values to resources of the Pan-East Sea region
